This is a blog run by the student record label located on the USC campus. We are experimenting with new models for the music industry, and this is where we will talk about our analysis, thoughts, and findings.

Is your label for-profit, not-for-profit, or non-profit? How does that effect an on-campus record label?
The label is non-for-profit as we are all students and are using all of the resources we can to make it work. We consider ourselves to be an on campus record label because we are officially recognized as a student organization and can receive funding for specific requests as a result. Also, we target or events, releases, and even choose the bands we sign from to and from the student community.
The focus of this blog is the research, ideas, analysis, and possible business models that StrikeThrough Records is currently exploring. By sharing our thoughts on where the new models that will save the music industry take us, we would like all of your feedback on what you think would or wouldn't work. While many of the ideas will be hypothetical, those that seem more feasible will be implemented by the label. Thanks for all your input!
I am currently a student at the University of Southern California in the Music Industry program. Along with a few other students, I run a student records label on campus. This blog is centered around the values of the label and what we are doing to help develop a new model for the music industry.
